研究の詳細な内容

　長年、アイヌ民族のための民族教育を将来的に開始することに向けての検討を進めてきました。文化保存会や博物館などで参与観察をしつつ、ライフヒストリー研究と合わせて文化継承のメカニズムを解明しようとしました。但し、現在まで続いている保守的な日本国のアイヌ政策の元ではアイヌ民族教育は実施も配慮されてきませんでした。また、アイヌとしてカミングアウトがなかなか見られない社会的風土も合わせて存在しています。そのため、アイヌの人々が民族的出自に誇りが持てる環境、また、教育権を勝ち取るための運動の形成要因や条件に関心が広がり、アイデンティティや運動も多角的に研究するようになりました。博士論文では表象の問題も扱ってきました。北海道大学に赴任してから、和人学生や留学生にアイヌのことをどのように理解してもらえると、先住民族に関する異文化間理解に研究関心が拡大しており、現在、そのための研究プロジェクトを行っています。また、平成２４年度に文化庁の委託事業としてアイヌ語の実態に関する大型調査も行ったことがあります。

略歴

教授。２００５年米国アラスカ大学フェアバンクス校異文化間スターディズ修士号。２０１２年九州大学人間環境学府博士後期課程修了、博士（教育学）。２０１２年４月から北海道大学メディア・コミュニケーション研究院特任准教授。２０１９年４月から現職。
