Message

My research focuses on issues related to local communities, labor, and migration. Drawing on the perspectives of social and adult education, I examine how education contributes to social integration. With a particular focus on East Asia, I conduct comparative research on how the collaboration of education, welfare, and labor systems empowers individuals and communities. In my educational experience, I have been engaged in study abroad support and international exchange in higher education. My work includes planning and managing study abroad programs, advising students on overseas study opportunities, and supporting international students. I value helping each student grow personally and develop their career through international learning experiences.

Detailed contents of research

My research compares how education, welfare, and labor systems are connected at the community level, with a particular focus on mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan. I am especially interested in educational support and social participation for people who move across borders, including migrant workers and foreign residents.

Using participant observation, interviews, and policy analysis, I have examined community-based learning support and practices of community building. In addition, I have extensive experience in international education administration at universities, including the planning and management of short- and long-term study abroad programs, collaboration with overseas partner institutions, and support for international students. These practical experiences also inform and enrich my research.

Simplified curriculum vitae

After obtaining a Master’s degree in Education from Kyushu University in 2010 and a Ph.D. in Education from Nagoya University in 2016, I joined Hokkaido University in June 2016.
