Relationships between lifestyle habits and physical and mental health in community-dwelling populations

Research Group Overview

Epidemiology is the study of how diseases and health conditions are distributed within populations. It examines who is affected, how common conditions are, and which factors are associated with them, using the analysis of population-based data. My research explores the relationship between daily exercise, lifestyle habits, and health using data collected through field surveys.

In our laboratory, students identify research topics related to health through journal article discussions and develop a deeper understanding of health support by engaging in the collection and analysis of research data. Through these activities, the laboratory aims to foster individuals who can contribute to education and society from broad and multidisciplinary perspectives.

Students I am looking for

  • Students interested in health-promoting behaviors and lifestyle habits
  • Students who wish to empirically investigate familiar health-related questions based on data
  • Students motivated to generate new knowledge through data collection and analysis

Applicants from diverse academic backgrounds, including those outside the university, are welcome. However, it is desirable that students acquire basic knowledge of research methods and statistics prior to entering the graduate program.

Master's thesis topics

  • e.g., Association between physical activity levels and psychological health among university students
  • e.g., Association between sleep duration and cognitive function among community-dwelling older adults
  • e.g., Association between lifestyle habits and developmental characteristics in children, etc.
