My research is focused on child poverty. I consider what we can do through education and social welfare programs to remove or alleviate social disadvantages/difficulties stemming from poverty based on an empirical understanding of the social problem of childhood poverty.
My recent achievements include: 1. Child Abuse and Families – Multiple Disadvantages and Social Support (in Japanese, author and editor, 2013, Akashi Shoten); 2. Child Abuse and Poverty – Toward a Society With No Forgotten Children (in Japanese, author and editor, 2010, Akashi Shoten); 3. White Paper on Child Poverty (in Japanese, editorial board member, 2009, Akashi Shoten); and 4. Child Poverty – Ensuring a Childhood of Happiness and Equality for All (in Japanese, author and editor, 2008, Akashi Shoten). I also serve as an editorial board member for several academic journals, including the Journal of the Society for the Study of Poverty (in Japanese, Akashi Shoten) and the Journal of the Japanese Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (in Japanese, Japanese Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect).
